Marvell Cheeks Sr.
This Life to the Max event is to benefit the Holiday Meals on Wheels, part of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging Meals on Wheels program.
The Detroit Area Agency on Aging is grateful to the sponsors and supporters of Life to the MAX who believe as we do: HUNGER TAKES NO HOLIDAY!
The Detroit Area Agency on Aging provides thosands of seniors and disabled persons with one meal, five days a week, through a federally-supported program that does not include Holiday meals. Holiday meals are only possible by a grassroots campaign that raises private and community contributions. Hundreds of individuals, partnering organizations, corporations and churches sell holiday greeting cards to obtain donations, and thousands of needy seniors are fed on Easter Sunday, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Hundreds of volunteers are involved in the delivery of holiday meals. For further information about becoming a volunteer call (313) 446-4444
This is Marvell Cheeks Sr, grandfather of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick & father of Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick whom was one of the many honored tonight. I was shooting people speaking and looked to my left and saw Marvell sitting there, I didnt see this shot at first, I took one shot of him sitting, then a shot of just his hands, then the whole shot came together and I focused locked on his hands and moved the camera to the left to include some of his face…but the hands are what I wanted for this photo.
